"I got angry, this can't happen".

Hear Linda Abrahamsson's story in the clip.

When Linda Abrahamsson from Timmele outside Ulricehamn was going to check the balance before shopping, she discovered that the bank ID was blocked.

When she managed to log into the bank, it said that she was registered as deceased.

The incorrect declaration of death, which took place in September 2021, had major consequences.

- The only thing that was not blocked was the alarm on the house and the mobile phone, the rest was blocked or deleted, she says.

Child support frozen

She also received letters saying that child support for her son could not be paid, which made her realize the seriousness.

- Casper doesn't have a father, I'm single.

And then it said that the child support for Casper could not be paid because he has no guardian, then I understood that this is bigger.

Received damages

The reason for the death declaration was that a registrar at the Swedish Tax Agency keyed in a number incorrectly in the social security number.

Linda Abrahamsson has now received damages of SEK 20,000 through the Chancellor of Justice.

In 2021, Linda was one of the 42 affected.

In 2022, there were 46 people.

Difficult to fully protect yourself

The Swedish Tax Agency's business developer Vjera Catovic says that the authority takes the incident seriously:

- That should not happen at all.

Now that it has happened, we are of course very sorry for it and the discomfort it has caused the person.

It is difficult to completely guard against mistakes, but they are very rare.
