A power struggle between two gang-criminal men is said to be the cause of a series of acts of violence that shook Stockholm in the past month.

The conflict is based on who will control the drug market in Sundsvall, according to SVT's information.

Sundsvall is described by the police as a hub for the drug trade in northern Sweden - and the large availability of cocaine, among other things, has changed the city, say several people we spoke to.

- We call it weekend noses.

The most common is cocaine, says Anders von Heideken, supervisor at two pubs in central Sundsvall.

- What has changed is that it has become a common drug.

It is very common and is now used by basically all categories of society, says Anders von Heideken.

Cocaine traces in pub toilets

Using the same type of napkins that the police use, we investigate Sundsvall's pubs.

The napkins are dyed blue if there are traces of cocaine.

- They are reliable, says Josef Wiklund, local police area manager in Medelpad.

We find traces of cocaine in all the pubs we visit - a weekday evening in the middle of the week.

- I am not at all surprised by the result, we also usually get hits, says Anders von Heideken, who has also used the same method to uncover the cocaine where he works.

The police take the situation seriously

- We have a clear shift in norms where more people choose to party hard at the weekends.

And that means the gangs can earn more money, says Josef Wiklund.

Last week they attacked several addresses in Sundsvall in an effort that was directly linked to the current conflict.

Seven people have now been arrested on suspicion of, among other things, serious weapons offenses and serious drug offences.

- We will continue to work towards this and I also think that restaurateurs and security guards are doing what they can.

But it is a social problem in general, where those who buy drugs have to think about who it benefits, says Josef Wiklund.

SVT has contacted the taverns where we found traces of cocaine, but none of them wanted to comment on the findings.
