This was reported in the French Ministry of Defense following the talks between the Ministers of Defense of France and Italy, Sebastian Lecornu and Guido Crozetto.
“During the conversation, the ministers completed technical discussions between France and Italy on the supply of the Samp / T-Mamba air defense system to Ukraine in the spring of 2023,” RIA Novosti reported.
It is specified that this is the first European long-range anti-missile system of Franco-Italian development.
As emphasized in the French Ministry of Defense, this system "will allow Ukraine to defend itself against attacks by Russian drones, missiles and aircraft."
Earlier, Italy announced that it would not send tanks to Ukraine.
It was also reported that Italy and France intend to purchase Aster-30 air defense missiles for Ukraine.
