The accident happened at 11 o'clock on Friday morning.

There were three people traveling in the passenger car at the time of the collision with the train which, according to the officer on duty at the Östra Götaland Rescue Service, was traveling at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.

The train had time to slow down to a low speed before the collision, according to the rescue service.

The emergency services left the scene at 12 noon and the accident will affect train traffic between Linköping and Västervik.

There is currently no forecast for when the trains can run as usual.

Police patrol on site will now work to investigate what has happened, and among other things talk to people who can give a picture of the course of events.
