Two chief sergeants were placed in police custody on Monday January 30, 2023 as part of an investigation into corruption in the Parisian pounds environment, according to AFP.

The two police officers were presented on Wednesday to an investigating judge who indicted them for passive corruption by a person holding public authority, misappropriation of the purpose of a file and violation of professional secrecy,

The two police officers are suspected of having obtained advantages in exchange for services allowed by their function, according to a source familiar with the matter.

One of them was also indicted for the death threat and abuse of authority, the other for the illegal taking of interests.

Corruption case

The case was opened at the end of October 2022. After a preliminary investigation, two people have already been indicted on December 8.

Chafic Alywan, the boss of the impoundment company Inter Dépannage, is being prosecuted for active corruption, complicity in breach of professional secrecy, complicity in misappropriation of the purpose of processing personal data, abuse of social good as well as for the execution of concealed work.

He was remanded in custody.

A former prefecture official in the Paris region has been indicted for passive corruption and concealment of property from an abuse of corporate assets.

He was placed under judicial supervision.
