The Pentagon said it contacted China about a reconnaissance balloon over Montana

It is noted that the US authorities contacted the Chinese Embassy in Washington, as well as the US Embassy in Beijing. 

“We have made it clear that we will do everything necessary to protect our people and territory,” the message says.

Earlier it was reported that the US military has been tracking a reconnaissance balloon over the north of the country for several days.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also expressed hope that NATO and Japan would stop inflating the Chinese threat.
