Saudi Arabia and Iraq stress the need to work to reduce tension in the region

Yesterday, the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and the Saudi Faisal bin Farhan stressed the need to work to reduce the state of tension in the region, and stressed the importance of conducting dialogues and discussions about challenges that concern the region in general.

Minister Hussein said, in a joint press conference with his Saudi counterpart in Baghdad, that "the visit of the Saudi foreign minister is important, and it comes at a time characterized by many challenges."

He added, "Dialogues and discussions are continuing with representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, about the bilateral relations between the two countries that have developed in various fields," noting that "there is coordination with the concerned authorities and officials in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on oil policy, and coordination within the framework of OPEC and OPEC Plus." .

He pointed out, "There is continuous cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the security field, and the fight against drug gangs, and we are working to reduce the state of tension in the region," noting that "Saudi Arabia plays an important role in this field."

He added, "We touched on holding the fourth meeting of the Political and Security Committee between the two parties under my chairmanship and that of the Saudi Foreign Minister, and we also touched on holding the Iraqi-Saudi Joint Coordinating Council."

Saudi Minister Bin Farhan stressed "the depth of the relationship between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, especially as it is witnessing a great positive momentum in the recent period, and working at a close pace to continue the momentum."

He expressed his support for Iraq's efforts to promote prosperity and stability, stressing the activation of the Joint Coordination Council, which works to promote many projects.

Bin Farhan added that "Iraq plays a fundamental and important role in the stability of the region," stressing "the need to advance the process of stability in the region."

And the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, had announced, earlier, that Minister Bin Farhan had arrived in Baghdad on an official visit, during which he met with the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani.
