He recalled the statement of the ex-president of Poland, Lech Walesa, who called for a "final deal" with Russia.

In response to this, Lavrov quoted the ideologists of Nazi Germany, who were engaged in the "final solution of the Jewish question" and noted that all of Europe and the United States are now gathering against Russia.

“Yes, even if not in gas chambers, but to make sure that Russia ceases to exist as a great power ... When unscrupulous politicians began to declare that under such comparisons Lavrov insulted the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, this means only one thing, that the cap is burning on the thief .

And that they have no arguments,” the minister explained.

Lavrov stressed that he did not offend the victims of the Holocaust.

Earlier, the minister noted that his statement "means absolutely nothing", and "the wise Jewish people say that the most ardent anti-Semites, as a rule, are Jews."

Later, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid demanded an apology from Russia because of Sergey Lavrov's statement.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that Russian President Vladimir Putin explained to his Israeli counterpart Russia's attitude towards the Jewish people and apologized for the statement of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
