Shapovalov was placed in custody with the option of posting a 402.6 million hryvnia ($11 million) bail.
Earlier, the deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, confirmed that he had written a letter of resignation from his post.
It was also reported that Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Vyacheslav Shapovalov wrote his resignation amid a corruption scandal.
