The Center Party's election committee wants to see Muharrem Demirok as the new party leader.

In a debate article in Aftonbladet, representatives for the Center Party in Dorotea, Robertsfors and Vindeln write that the candidate process was "substandard".

Among other things, they consider that the process has not been open.

- I cannot come to terms with the idea that we have landed on this being the best candidate.

Of all center party members in the whole country, says Helena Lundgren, agent for the Center party's extra party meeting in Vindeln to SVT Nyheter.

The representatives want to know, among other things, whether the election committee has been informed about Muharrem Demirok's family ties to people close to Erdogan.

According to Expressen, Demirok is related to a top Turkish diplomat close to the Turkish regime, to which Muharrem Demirok comments that he regrets the political path that his father's relative has chosen.

The center representative wants to know what considerations have been made regarding the issue.

"Not flattering things"

Helena Lundgren also highlights the fact that Demirok was convicted of assault and did not directly inform the party about this.

- It feels a bit unreliable, we get to read about him in the media and it's not such flattering things.

In an interview with SVT's Agenda, Muherrem Demirok was asked why he initially chose not to tell the Center Party's selection committee about the judges.

- When you are ashamed of something, you also bury it deep inside.

I made mistakes.
