The four-day week will soon be tested among civil servants, notably at the URSSAF.

But it can also be a solution for saving energy in business.

As the company no longer opens for four days instead of five, electricity and heating will work less mechanically and the bill will be a little lighter.

In Dijon, the experimentation of a carpentry company very quickly bore fruit.

If the four-day week will be tested by the government in Picardy for anything else, the measure gives ideas in the private sector.

At the Atelier Panel, the four-day week - instead of the traditional five days - has been in effect for three months.

The cause ?

The electricity bill.

By closing on Friday, David Butet, the boss, found only this solution to save energy in business.

Electricity and heating will work less mechanically and the bill will be reduced a little.

25% savings in one quarter

"My gas/electricity contract was multiplied by four. So I wondered how to act to save money quickly. I brought the employees together, we thought about it together and they told me that if we took off a day's work , we could save energy", explains the manager.

The workshop is therefore closed on Fridays: the machines, the light and the heating work one day less per week.

"We made 25% savings. 25% is huge! I didn't think we would achieve so much!", He notes, playfully.

Improved daily life for employees

Winners too, the twenty employees come one day less to work.

Jolan, a programmer, sees several advantages in this.

"It allows us to have a three-day weekend and to rest because the days, concentrated over four days, are longer. It's also better for everyday life, to schedule medical appointments for example. “, he describes.

"And then also, by coming one day less by car, I save diesel. Before I did 1.5 fill-ups per month, now it's more like a single fill-up. So I save around 40 euros," adds Jolan.

Everyone is there.

Including the company, which has lost nothing in productivity or turnover.
