Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on what the opposition raised about the illegality of his candidacy for the presidential elections scheduled before the middle of this year, and talked about what he called Turkey's century and its vision to become a global power.

Erdogan confirmed that there is no obstacle to re-running for the presidential elections, and that this step is in accordance with the law and the constitution.

The Turkish president said in an interview on the official TRT channels on Wednesday that the people chose him as the first president of the presidential system, "and thus we completed the first presidential term," he said.

He added, "If you do not stand before your people with your achievements and services, they will not appreciate you in any way, and the people see that what we have done over the past 20 years is a very clear achievement."

Erdogan made it clear that they can walk with those who respect and believe in the values upon which the People's Alliance is based.

It is noteworthy that the People's Alliance was formed from the ruling Justice and Development Party and the National Movement on February 20, 2018 to run in the general elections together, and it currently includes the Great Unity Party on its side.

The Turkish president believed that there is no point in discussing the possibility of his candidacy or not, which was put forward by the opposition.

Turkey century

On another issue, Erdogan said that what he called "Turkey's Century" is a name for the period in which Turkey will become one of the most prominent countries in the world with the strength and experience it has gained in the past period.

He made it clear that Turkey's century is a matter of vision, and that they will take more steps through it, stressing that they have achieved remarkable successes, overcoming all major obstacles over 20 years.

Erdogan stressed that they have prepared Turkey to become a global power through the huge infrastructure investments that they have made, noting that his country "is greater than its borders, and we are now an effective regional power, and our current goal is to become a global power."

He pointed out that the "Century of Turkey" is a period in which the investments they have made for 20 years will be directly reflected in the well-being of citizens and increase their opportunities faster.
