The Democratic Party held a general meeting of lawmakers and discussed the motion for impeachment of Minister of Public Administration and Security, Lee Sang-min, but ended without reaching a conclusion.

Breaking away from the atmosphere that emphasized the single ranks, several lawmakers poured out critical remarks, and CEO Lee Jae-myeong also watched the general meeting to the end.

general assembly of Democratic Party lawmakers prepared to discuss the impeachment of Minister Lee Sang-min.

Unlike the recent General Assembly, which only lasted around 30 minutes, it lasted for over two and a half hours.

This is because as many as 17 lawmakers, who usually spared their words, applied for free speech today (the 2nd).

Floor leader Park Hong-geun emphasized that the impeachment motion should be adopted as a party argument, but

[Park Hong-geun/Democratic Party floor leader: We must judge only the responsibility of the state and politics for the life and safety of the people.

We will gather the party's consensus on the censure of Minister Lee Sang-min through today's general assembly.]

While sympathizing with the need for impeachment, there were concerns that it could face a backlash if dismissed by the Constitutional Court.

There were also complaints about the national report meeting to be held the day after tomorrow.

People have to take care of people's livelihood, such as skyrocketing heating costs, but there were also complaints that it was realistically difficult to fulfill the party's instructions to allocate the number of attendees to fill the seats, along with concerns that they could be trapped in a bulletproof frame if they were immersed in off-site struggles.

There were also voices that the party leadership should improve the communication method in the direction of collecting opinions with sufficient time rather than one-sided notification.

Representative Lee Jae-myeong kept his seat until the end of the general assembly and watched the situation where the voices within the party, which had been quiet under the slogan of’single ranks’, erupted.

The Democratic Party plans to propose an impeachment bill as a party argument after further process of collecting opinions within the party.

In addition, they agreed to persuade and promote the opposition parties such as the Justice Party so that the special prosecutor Kim Kun-hee law could be put on the fast track.
