  According to the report, considering the take-out operation of Unit 3, the difficulty of the construction method will be discussed, and the report will be compiled roughly in the spring of next year.

  The special committee is expected to be composed of about 10 people including experts in the fields of atomic energy, civil engineering, and construction, including former chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Commission Toyoshi Sarata.

  The supporting organization said: "Large-scale extraction is a technical challenge that is unprecedented in the world. The social interest is also high, and the discussion will be conducted with safety as the main premise."

  The removal of fuel fragments is planned to be carried out from Unit 2, which has progressed in internal situation monitoring, among Units 1 to 3 where core meltdown occurred.

A small amount will be taken out experimentally initially and slowly scaled up.

For units 1 and 3, the specific construction method and time have not yet been finalized.
