The Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt said on Wednesday that he was in favor of the "senior index", provided for in the pension reform, also concerning medium-sized companies, from 50 or 60 employees.

The Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt said on Wednesday that he was in favor of the "senior index", provided for in the pension reform, also concerning medium-sized companies, from 50 or 60 employees, provided that this does not does not create "an ocean of red tape".

Compulsory for companies with 300 or more employees, from 2024

The reform of the executive provides that a "senior index" will be created to better understand the place of employees at the end of their careers, and thus promote good practices and denounce bad ones.

It will be compulsory from this year for companies with more than 1,000 employees, a threshold lowered to 300 employees in 2024. Recalcitrant employers will be liable to financial penalties.

Asked about France 2 on possible developments during the parliamentary debate, which begins next week in the hemicycle, Olivier Dussopt said he heard that "many deputies in the majority" and "beyond" want this measure to apply " not only (to) companies with more than 300" employees, but also to those "of more than 50 for example".

The "parliamentary debate is intended to improve things"

We "have to look at how we can articulate this", declared Olivier Dussopt, who said he was in favor of it "if we can have a measure which (is not) an ocean of administration and red tape for the heads of companies".

He did not specify what the timeline would be.

Furthermore, in the event that a company does not "implement" the index and the obligation to negotiate a seniors' agreement, "can't we foresee something that obliges it to do it, in a second time? Perhaps a track “to examine, he affirmed.

The "parliamentary debate (...) is obviously intended to improve things", he assured, the day after a day of mobilization which was "very important", he recognized.
