The American "Axios" website quoted US and Israeli officials as saying that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken "pressured" Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to accept "a security plan that would restore PA control over the cities of Nablus and Jenin."

The site added that the US plan includes "training a special Palestinian force to confront militants" in the occupied West Bank.

"Axios" indicated that "the Palestinians have reservations about the American plan" because it does not include demands for Israel.

The site indicated that the administration of US President Joe Biden is looking for ways to calm down and prevent the outbreak of a third intifada, and American and Israeli officials believe that the decline in security control of the Palestinian Authority is the reason for the escalation in the West Bank.

The US secretary urged the Palestinian Authority to restore security coordination with Israel, which was suspended by the Palestinian presidency last week.

The US State Department considered that the decision to suspend security coordination with Israel was not appropriate, stressing that the need now is for more coordination between the two sides.

Yesterday, Tuesday, the Palestinian President met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Ramallah, at the end of an intensive diplomatic tour, during which he sought to reduce escalation between the Israeli occupation and the Palestinians.

It should be noted that the Israeli occupation launched a campaign of systematic assassinations carried out by special forces against the leaders of the "Black's Den" (the Palestinian resistance in the city of Nablus) and the "Jenin Brigade" in recent months.

Last September, the city of Nablus, in the northern West Bank, witnessed violent clashes between the Palestinian security services and protesters angry at the arrest of one of the prominent activists in the "Black Den", Musab Shtayyeh, a leader in the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Last week, the Palestinian Authority suspended security coordination with Israel after the largest incursion by the Israeli forces in years, as the occupation penetrated deep into the Jenin camp and caused the death of 10 Palestinians, including an elderly woman, and injured dozens, some of whom were in serious condition, and this was followed by two shootings in Jerusalem. There are 7 Israelis in them.

In January, the Israeli occupation forces killed 35 Palestinians, including 8 children, while 224 Palestinians, including 61 children, were killed in the West Bank and Gaza in the past year 2022.
