January is usually a strong month for home buying, compared to the month before.

Adjusted for seasonal variation, prices rose by 0.7 percent, according to Danske Bank.

First since August

The rise in a single month was the first since August, which was then a temporary bump in the downward curve.

"However, we believe that the rise in prices will be short-lived and that prices will fall again already in February when the Riksbank will most likely deliver another large interest rate increase," the bank writes in a comment.

In total, Danske Bank's economists predict a price drop of 20 percent from the peak.

That would mean a further seven percent down from today's position.

In a longer perspective, for the full year 2022, prices are falling in all major Swedish cities and in the country on average, however.

Compared to the record years 2020 and 2021, the number of housing sales was significantly lower in 2022.
