The UAE affirmed that it attaches great importance to the issue of combating terrorism and border security and management, and supports all efforts exerted within the framework of comprehensive management of border security and management in confronting the movement of terrorists, in cooperation and coordination with all countries, in addition to relevant international and regional bodies and organizations, especially the United Nations office. on Drugs and Crime, and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).

This came during the speech of the UAE Parliamentary Division, which was delivered by a member of the Federal National Council, Obaid Khalfan Al-Ghoul Al-Salami, during the sessions of the Parliamentary Division on policies, held in the Qatari capital, Doha, on the topic of “threats to border security by organizations - terrorist groups - And challenges in legal regulation that reduce the efficiency of border security,” in the presence of a member of the Federal National Council, Nasser Muhammad Al-Yamahi.

Al-Salami stressed that "the traditional and non-traditional challenges in the field of border security and management are increasing day by day, in light of globalization and the technological revolution that has made the world more connected, interdependent and interactive than ever before."

He pointed out that conflicts, lack of security, and the effects of climate change constituted a significant increase in forced movement, and became a factor of pressure on border crossings and their management, and exacerbated threats to regional and international security. In this regard, he praised the draft resolution unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (November 2022). ), and presented by the UAE and Canada, on cooperation between the United Nations and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), with the aim of creating a safer world.

The UAE Parliamentary Division affirmed that securing and managing borders effectively requires coordination and cooperation at the national and international levels, in the field of information exchange, and the development of special measures and mechanisms in combating terrorism, in order to ensure the activation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and the relevant Security Council resolutions.
