Mia Karlsson is the principal of regionally owned Blekinge folk high school.

- We have had a close dialogue with our owner and received an additional grant of SEK 1.5 million.

It was necessary because otherwise we would have had two million kroner less to work with, she says.

The consequence would have been to cancel courses and perhaps get rid of staff.

- It had become noticeable to us, she says.

Courses disappear

For Valjevikens folk high school, consequences await.

- For this extra money, we started a course for future student assistants and an e-sports training.

They will be completed, even though we are going back 3.5 million kroner this year, says deputy rector Eric Sandström.

In the autumn, one or more courses may be withdrawn, but it is not yet clear which ones apply.

Principal Lena Pålsson at Jämshög folk high school says that it has already become tougher financially with increased overheads for electricity and heat, among other things.

- But there will be no direct consequences for our range this year, she says.
