The report says that the UN leadership was informed about anti-church bills, personal sanctions against religious figures of the UOC, as well as about the illegal activities of local governments.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church expressed the hope that the UN would take timely measures to counter the incitement of religious hatred and discrimination against believing citizens of Ukraine and religious organizations of the UOC, and also develop recommendations for the Ukrainian government regarding the protection of religious freedoms.
Earlier, the government of Ukraine submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill aimed at banning the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
