The electoral authority ISIE gave the provisional turnout at 11.3 percent.

It was only slightly higher than the turnout of 11.2 percent in the first round on December 17, 2022. Runoff elections were held on Sunday in 131 of 161 constituencies in which no candidate received an absolute majority at the time.

Results are not yet available.

According to press reports, in the event of a tie, the younger candidate will win the constituency.

The major parties, which accuse President Kaïs Saïed of a "coup d'etat", had called for a boycott of the elections, in which they were practically not allowed to participate.

Most of the candidates were little-known newcomers to politics, which is another reason for the low turnout.

Kaïs Saïed created a presidential and authoritarian regime with a weak parliament for which only individual candidates could run.

Most Tunisians are more concerned with the severe economic crisis, which is getting worse and worse due to price increases, more than politics.

Several Tunisian NGOs monitoring the elections said they were denied information on the number of voters.

Journalists reported difficulties entering the polling stations and attempts by the authorities to intimidate them.

The electoral authority rejected the allegations.

Their staff at the polling stations were too busy to work with the monitors.
