A dramatic road accident occurred this Saturday afternoon in Savoie.

Three people from the same family died in a head-on collision on the RN90 at the exit of Aime-La-Plagne, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie.

The three victims, aged 16, 21 and 48, were a father, his son and his nephew, according to our colleagues.

, the 21-year-old was behind the wheel.

Their vehicle collided head-on with a pick-up, driven by a young woman.

The latter, aged 21, was seriously injured in the accident.

Circumstances to be determined

A large emergency response has been deployed.

The road had to be cut in both directions for more than two and a half hours so that the two helicopters requested could land.

About 20 firefighters were also on site.

The driver was airlifted to Grenoble University Hospital.

A judicial inquiry has been opened to establish the exact circumstances of this accident.
