Chinanews.com, January 30 (Xinhua) According to RIA Novosti, on the 29th local time, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference Christoph Heusgen said in an interview with German media that he supported sending fighter jets to Ukraine.

According to reports, Heusgen said that the US F16 fighter jets or Soviet fighter jets from the stockpiles of East Germany (DDR) could be used.

He said foreign militaries could provide Ukraine with weapons, including tanks and fighter jets, under international law.

After Western countries announced to provide tanks to Ukraine, Ukraine began to seek more military assistance such as fighter jets and long-range missiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the 28th that Ukraine needs a U.S. Army tactical missile system with a range of about 300 kilometers, but the U.S. has so far refused to provide this weapon.

A senior Ukrainian official said that Ukraine is currently negotiating with Western allies on providing long-range missiles and fighter jets.

However, German Chancellor Scholz has recently "drawn a red line" for Germany to provide military support to Ukraine, saying that it will not provide fighter jets to Ukraine, nor will it send ground troops, and stressed that Germany will avoid the situation between Russia and NATO upgrade.

In response to Western military aid to Ukraine, Russia has sent a note to NATO countries.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov previously stated that any material containing weapons aided to Ukraine will become a legal target of Russia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that NATO countries are "playing with fire" by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
