No offense to Tesla, which praises its Auto Pilot despite many setbacks, Mercedes is the first car manufacturer in the world to introduce level 3 automated driving in the United States, Nevada being the first state to confirm the conformity of the system.

A major step that makes the Drive Pilot the first and only Level 3 system authorized for use on US highways in a production vehicle.

S and EQS

Mercedes intends to continue expanding to California later this year, with certification documents already filed with state authorities.

The Drive Pilot will be available in the US as an option on the S-Class and EQS Sedan, with the first cars due to be delivered to customers later this year.

Where permitted, the Drive Pilot controls speed, distance and direction up to 64 km/h.

It adapts to the environment (traffic signs) and reacts to unforeseen situations (braking, avoidance) completely autonomously.
