“Due to the absence of corpus delicti, the court ruled to acquit Alekseev on the charge of illegal acquisition and possession of cartridges for firearms ... by imposing a final sentence one month less than that indicated in the verdict of the court of first instance,” RIA Novosti reported.

On October 29, 2021, the Pardaugava Court of Riga sentenced Yuri Alekseev, a well-known Russian-speaking publicist and public figure in Latvia, the editor-in-chief of the IMHOclub online discussion platform he created, to 14 months in prison.

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commented on the verdict of the Latvian court.
