The Korean government's restriction on short-term visa issuance for China has been extended by one month until the 28th of next month.

This is because the possibility of corona spread after the Chinese Lunar New Year movement cannot be ruled out.

In response, Chinese state media claimed that they would lose money by missing out on the huge demand for overseas travel by Chinese tourists, pointing to South Korea and France.

This is because France has also extended the corona test for arrivals from China until the 15th of next month.

Countries such as South Korea have put forward Southeast Asian countries as the biggest beneficiaries of Chinese overseas travel, saying that even if restrictions are lifted later, the pace of tourism recovery will be slow.

In particular, it was emphasized that Chinese overseas group tours will resume from the 6th of next month .

It is argued that South Korea lost Chinese group tourists because it extended visa issuance restrictions.

Group tour targets are 20 countries selected by China, except for Korea, Japan, and the United States, which are in conflict over strengthening quarantine for entrants from China.

Chinese media highlighted Korean media reports that a large shopping mall in Seoul, which was visited by many Chinese, was closed due to financial difficulties, and some netizens suggested a boycott, even inciting anti-Korean sentiment.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also urged that the extension of Korea's restrictions be an irrational and discriminatory measure, and should be repealed as soon as possible.

It also insisted that China would resume issuance of visas to China only if South Korea lifts its short-term visa suspension first.
