As surprising as it may seem, Audi (no more than BMW for that matter) has no model in its range capable of competing with the Mercedes G-Class. Yet, despite its cubic look and prices just as bulky as it is, the G never ceases to seduce.
In 2021, it even broke its sales record with more than 40,000 copies.
A true franchisor based on a ladder chassis, the G has become over time a luxury model without ever compromising on its off-road capabilities.
Scout
According to our British colleagues from Autocar, who spoke with the chief designer of Audi, the brand with the rings also intends to offer a luxury 4x4 capable of “climbing trees”.
Scheduled for 2027, it will be 100% electric and will also be based on a ladder frame to go anywhere.
But it will not be a VW platform.
Audi, which should partner with the Canadian Magna for the occasion, will produce this new vehicle under the Scout label, a former American brand acquired by the Volkswagen Group in 2021.
