The Office of the President announced today (30th) that it is accusing Democratic Party spokesman Kim Eui-gyeom of defamation for raising suspicions of additional stock price manipulation against President Yoon Seok-yeol's wife, Kim Kun-hee.

The Office of the President announced today that it plans to file a complaint against Spokesperson Kim to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).

The executive officer in the Office of the President, who is in charge of the related business, is accepting the complaint at 3:00 pm today.

The President's office said, "It is malicious to repeatedly announce the categorical fake news that 'the president's spouse's suspicion of stock price manipulation has been revealed' in the absence of the minimum facts about who manipulated the stock price, when and by what method, and how he was involved. Rather, it violates the people's right to know."

Then, he said that there is no basis for Spokesperson Kim's claim that the 'Woori Technology' item is the operation stock, saying, "It has never been accused or investigated by the Financial Supervisory Service, and it is not under trial." He testified against it,” he added.

The president's office insisted, "The fact that the president's spouse 'simply traded a certain stock' 13 years ago cannot be turned into 'stock price manipulation' without any basis."

"The basis is that the reporter for a specific company saw the 'stock sale details' while attending the third trial in November last year," he said.

The President's office said, "It was judged that it was difficult to condone the repeated spread of false information and ridicule by saying 'welcome accusation' as a secondary offense."

Previously, in a written briefing on the 27th, Spokesperson Kim said, "It has been revealed that Mrs. Kim was involved in another stock price manipulation. Following Deutsche Motors, this time it is the owner of 'Our Technology'." It was additionally revealed that 200,000 shares of technology were sold. It is said that President Yoon's mother-in-law Choi Eun-soon's account was also used."

Spokesman Kim issued a statement on the accusation policy of the President's Office yesterday and said, "I welcome you with both hands up," and said, "It is a good opportunity to properly investigate Mrs. Kim."

Regarding the suspicion of 'Cheongdam-dong drinking party' raised by spokesperson Kim last year, the presidential office added, "Considering that the fake news of Cheongdam-dong drinking party has already been accused elsewhere and is being investigated, it was not included in this complaint."

The president's office accused opposition politicians twice last year.

In November of last year, the Democratic Party's supreme council member Jang Gyeong-tae, who said that the photo of Mrs. Kim's visit to a child with heart disease in Cambodia was 'concept shooting using at least 2-3 on-site studios', was accused of defaming his reputation by spreading false information.
