The Kremlin: Putin remains open to any contacts

The Kremlin reacted today, Sunday, to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's announcement of his intention to continue trying to work towards ending the war against Ukraine in the framework of direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday that there were no concrete plans currently for another phone conversation between Scholz and Putin, but stressed, "Putin remains open to any contacts."

And the German Chancellor announced in press statements today, Sunday: “I will call Putin again as well - because it is necessary to talk to each other.”

"It is up to Putin to withdraw troops from Ukraine and end this horrific and senseless war that has cost hundreds of thousands of lives," the German chancellor said.
