After yesterday the Government recognized that it is working on retouching the regulations after the reduction of sentences for sexual offenders, the Minister of Equality has claimed responsibility for the norm and has made clear her intention to maintain it.

"We will do everything necessary to ensure that consent remains at the center of the Penal Code and thus protect women," he said.

"There are many pressures to end consent as the center of this law. We will not return to the question of 'did you resist?'

instead of 'did you consent'? We will not go back to that probationary ordeal," she warned.

"We are making possible what they told us was impossible," the minister added.

In her opinion, the impediments to the application allowing the reduction of sentences for sexual offenders are the result of the "indecent offensive of the political and judicial right" in Spain.
