Iran claims to have repelled

a drone attack

on a military installation in Isfahan (center)

in the early hours of this Sunday , according to the

Ministry of Defense

quoted by the Irna agency.

"An unsuccessful attack was carried out with drones on one of the Defense Ministry complexes," the ministry explained, adding that the attack

caused no fatalities,

only "minor damage to the roof" of a building, according to the agency.

Likewise, it was reported that

one of the drones was destroyed by

the facility's anti-aircraft defense system, while the other two exploded.

The attack occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday (2000 GMT) and did not disrupt the operation of the complex, the ministry said.

The authorities did not provide details about the activity of the site that was targeted, located in the north of Isfahan.

Iran has several nuclear research sites in this region, including a uranium conversion plant.

In April 2021, Tehran announced that it had begun

producing 60% enriched uranium

at Natanz, about 90% needed to make an atomic bomb.

Negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran, the European Union and six major powers stalled when the United States withdrew in 2018.

The agreement sought to prevent Tehran from acquiring atomic weapons, a goal that Iran has always denied.
