German Chancellor urged to prevent the transition of the crisis in Ukraine into a conflict between Russia and NATO

) ... does not escalate into a war between Russia and NATO,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying in an interview with the German newspaper Tagesspiegel.

Earlier, Scholz said that Germany's goal is to prevent the expansion of Russia's borders.

On January 24, at a PACE meeting, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said that the West was "waging war against Russia."

Scholz stood up for the minister and said that Berlin would not allow such an escalation of tension between Moscow and Brussels.
