Today, Sunday, the Israeli occupation army killed a Syrian citizen, and seriously wounded another, when they approached the border fence in the occupied Syrian Golan, and said that they were armed.

The army said in a statement posted on its Twitter account, "The army reconnaissance monitored this morning two gunmen who crossed the border line from Syrian territory towards Israeli territory and approached the security fence in the southern Golan Heights area."

He added that a military force was summoned to the place, which, for its part, began applying systems to arrest the two suspects, and an injury was monitored.

The force provided medical treatment to the injured on the spot, and there were no injuries among the Israeli soldiers.

The "Kan" channel affiliated with the official broadcasting company said that today (Sunday) the Israeli army fired at two Syrian gunmen who approached the border in the south of the Golan Heights (..), killing one of them and seriously wounding the other.

The channel added that "none of the infiltrators crossed the fence or entered Israeli territory," while there was no immediate comment from the Syrian regime, which controls the other side of the border.

Israel occupied the Golan in 1967 and announced its annexation in 1981, before the administration of former US President Donald Trump recognized this annexation in 2019, contrary to the international position that considers the Golan occupied.

The security incident comes at a time when the Israeli occupation forces are on alert following two attacks carried out by two Palestinians in Jerusalem, the day before yesterday, Friday, and yesterday, Saturday, which resulted in the death of 7 Israelis and the wounding of 12, after the occupation forces stormed the Jenin camp, and 9 Palestinians were killed as a result of that storm.
