"Police said on Saturday that 42 people were detained in connection with the attack," according to The Times of Israel.

It is specified that among the detainees are relatives and friends of the 21-year-old terrorist, a resident of East Jerusalem, Alkam Khayri.

On the evening of January 27, a man opened fire on people in a synagogue in the Neve Yaakov area.

Arriving at the scene, the police entered into a shootout with the attacker, as a result of which he was neutralized.

Police confirmed the deaths of seven people as a result of the shooting.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that a number of immediate decisions had been made after the attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem.
