According to reports, Lee Jae-myung is suspected of disclosing the internal secrets of Seongnam City and Seongnam Urban Development Company to private developers as the final decision-maker of the development projects of Xili Xincheng and Dazhuangdong when he was the mayor of Seongnam, making them obtain huge profits.
He is also suspected of deciding to delete the excess profit recovery clause, making Seongnam City unable to obtain additional profits and causing huge losses to Seongnam City.
Prosecutors believe that private developers obtained 788.6 billion won and 21.1 billion won from the Daejang-dong development project and the Weili New Town development project through collusion between the government and businessmen.
Prosecutors also believe that Lee Jae-myung received election funds and other assistance from private developers through his cronies, Chung Jin-pong, who was the policy secretary of Seongnam Mayor at the time.
However, Lee Jae-myung completely denied the relevant suspicions, saying that Seongnam City recovered a total value of 550.3 billion won from various development projects.
The first and third anti-corruption investigation departments of the Central District Prosecutor's Office, which is in charge of investigating the case, have prepared 100 pages of interrogation questions to hold Lee Jae-myung accountable.
Li Zaiming will submit a 33-page written statement in lieu of answering.
In addition, the prosecution believes that the development projects of Xili New Town and Dazhuangdong have been carried out for more than 10 years, so Li Zaiming needs to be summoned again, and Li Zaiming said that it will stop at one investigation.
