Sunday weather: gray, clouds and cold

The weather on Sunday will be cloudy in the northwest, gray in the southwest, and variable elsewhere, according to Météo-France forecasts.

There will be widespread frosts in the land, between -4 and -1 degrees, locally -7 to -5 on the northeast and on the heights.

The sky will be gray from daybreak, from Brittany to Nord Pas-de-Calais.

Elsewhere to the north, there will be some clearings, thwarted by patches of gray weather and sometimes freezing fog.

Low clouds will dominate the plains of Rhône-Alpes, from the south of the Centre-Val de Loire and from Auvergne in the south-west to the Pyrenean foothills.

A few snowflakes will still fall on the Massif Central and near the Pyrenees.

A little rain expected by the sea

Gradually in the afternoon, the sky will cloud over from the edges of the English Channel to the Loire Valley, Ile-de-France and the Ardennes.

It will rain a little by the sea. On the plains of the South-West, the low clouds will often be tenacious.

In Auvergne and on the plains of Rhône-Alpes, the cloud layer will break up, letting in a little sunshine.

From the northeast to the center and north of New Aquitaine, the day will continue under alternating clouds and fine clearings.

On the Alpine massif and the Mediterranean rim, the sun will dominate all day.

Mistral and tramontane will blow moderately between 50 km/h and locally 70 km/h on the Roussillon coast.

Maximum temperatures, rising in the northwest, will reach 6 to 9 degrees from Brittany and Normandy to Flanders, locally 10/11 by the sea. It will be 8 to 11 around the Gulf of Lion and 12 to 14 on the Côte d'Azur and Corsica.

Everywhere else, the atmosphere will remain cold with no more than 2 to 6 degrees.
