Police in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, announced on the 28th that a Korean man named Kim in his 30s, who was going to climb Mt. Miyanoura in Yakushima, an island south of Kyushu, went missing.

According to Kyodo News, Mr. Kim wrote in the documents submitted at the entrance of the trail that he would enter the mountain alone at 11 am on the 23rd, stay at a mountain hut, and descend on the 24th.

However, a friend living in Tokyo could not contact Kim and reported it to the police on the 26th.

Due to heavy snowfall on Mt. Miyanoura, the entrance to the mountain trail and surrounding roads have been closed since the 24th, and as a result, the Yakushima Police Station is also unable to conduct a search operation.

With a height of 1,936 m, Mt. Miyanoura is the highest mountain in Kyushu as well as Yakushima.
