“We are sad to announce that among the innocent victims there is a citizen of Ukraine.

We express our deep condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the full recovery of the wounded,” the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel said in a statement.

On the evening of January 27, a man opened fire on people in a synagogue in the Neve Yaakov area.

Arriving at the scene, the police entered into a shootout with the attacker, as a result of which he was neutralized.

Police confirmed the deaths of seven people as a result of the shooting.

According to The Times of Israel, police detained 42 people in connection with the attack.
