The Burgos retiree arrested for sending letters with explosive material has appeared this Friday at the National Court.

He has refused to testify before the judge.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Hearing has requested the investigating judge to order his provisional detention without the possibility of bail.

The Public Ministry considers that this precautionary measure is necessary for three reasons: there is a risk of escape if he is released, the risk that he will destroy sources of evidence that investigators do not yet have, and the risk that he will commit criminal acts again.

The risk of flight is based on the seriousness of the crimes that are provisionally attributed to him: six crimes of injuries and terrorist threats, two of them aggravated for being directed at members of the Government.

He is also charged with the crime of manufacturing and using explosive, flammable and incendiary devices for terrorist purposes.
