This is stated in the telegram to the organizers and participants of the events dedicated to the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust and the 78th anniversary of the liberation by the Red Army of the prisoners of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp (Auschwitz).

Putin noted that the oblivion of history becomes the reason for the repetition of terrible world tragedies.

“Evidence of this is the crimes against civilians, ethnic cleansing, punitive actions organized by neo-Nazis in Ukraine,” the Russian leader said.

He stressed that it is precisely these crimes that Russian soldiers are fighting during a special operation.

Earlier, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, stated the need to do everything possible so that the tragedy does not happen again.
