In support of the mobilization against the pension reform project, several left-wing mayors, such as that of Montreuil in the Paris region, have decided to close the doors of town halls on January 31, the day of Act II of the demonstration. , in order to allow the agents of the town hall to participate.

"I made the decision with the municipality to close the town hall on January 31 from 12 noon".

For the communist mayor of the city of Montreuil in Seine-Saint-Denis, Patrick Bessac, the decision is made.

A welcome measure

Like Patrice Bessac, several left-wing mayors responded to the call of Fabien Roussel, the boss of the French Communist Party (PCF).

A decision well received and supported by a good number of inhabitants in Montreuil, like Audrey, employed in the civil status and proud that the municipality is investing in defending pensions: "I am rather happy that they can mobilize us, allow us to support the mobilization while avoiding a loss of salary twice in the same month. It's good that we all have the possibility of going on strike and following the movement more easily".

Some like Yves, 57, would like this movement to go even further.

"All the town halls should close", he thinks before continuing on his personal situation: "In any case, people like me will not be able to retire. So the longer people work later, the less the State will have to pay pensions.

Allow the 2,400 city employees to attend the demonstration

For Myriam, who is waiting for her passport at the town hall, it was the right thing to do.

"We should all demonstrate. It concerns us all, so it's very good that the agents of the town hall are also mobilizing", explains the Montreuilloise, for whom the mobilization must bring together as many people as possible: "More people will mobilize , the better. In general, the town hall makes good choices in this sense. That's why I appreciate this gesture".
