After more than 85 years of broadcasting, and hearing the chimes of the famous “Big Ben” inaugural clock, “Here is London”, which the Arabs from the ocean to the Gulf were familiar with and followed for several decades through its waves, as the most important sources of accurate news and deep analysis, today the radio broadcast of the Arab section in “ British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and Al Ajyal Radio will switch to digital platforms.

And as soon as the hands of the “Big Ben” clock in London point to one o’clock this afternoon, Friday, GMT, the broadcast of a radio broadcast that lasted 85 years will be interrupted, in which it presented to the Arab listener, with its famous slogan “Here is London”, stories and stories, and formed part of their awareness, and they followed through It was sparked by huge events that took place in the Arab region through the melodious voices that characterized BBC radio.

Since 1938, when the Egyptian broadcaster, Ahmed Kamal Sorour, opened the first news bulletin on the famous radio with the phrase “Here is London, ladies and gentlemen,” the phrase turned into a famous editorial that is repeated with the historic “Big Ben” clock ticking every hour.



Before the closure, the BBC will broadcast a special episode in which listeners will tell about their memories with the radio. A part of a special interview conducted by radio broadcaster Mahmoud Al-Muslimi will also be heard with the late Egyptian artist Nour Al-Sharif, as well as a dialogue with the late Lady of Arab Singing, Umm Kulthum.

Part of a special interview conducted by the late radio broadcaster Rashad Ramadan, with the great Egyptian musician Mohamed Abdel Wahhab, will also be broadcast, and a recording of the late novelist Al-Tayeb Al-Saleh will be broadcast.
