Poetry as a means of persuasion
“I have said that poets were my best friends.
That is to say that in my situations of difficulty, of battle, of harshness, what comes to me first is poetry.
I believe that she has already got me out of several delicate situations, including in my political fights, ”explains Christiane Taubira.

It is above all in the moments when she tries to convince - "when it pulls from everywhere" - that poetry imposes itself: "what comes to me then, it is not a philosophical, political or doctrinal theory, it is scathing verses, or touching verses… In any case, it is the words of a poet or a poetess, an image drawn by words which summarizes the situation or which clarifies what I am trying to say”.
