When the Sami board, students and teachers were visited by the National Education Agency this week, it was important to get the message out about the special conditions.

- We think it is important that we are seen throughout Sweden and that our important role in School Sweden is highlighted, says Anna-Karin Länta who is the head of the Sami School Board in Jokkmokk.

The school is both a state school and a Sami institution.

- This is precisely why it is important that the Swedish National Agency for Education is here, she says, and adds that she has expectations after these days.

To be presented to politicians

She hopes that the meeting will result in the Swedish National Agency for Education better presenting the Sami school's needs to the Ministry of Education.

- Now it's time to collect all the impressions of what we've seen and heard and review how we're going to work further and which things we're going to prioritize, says the Director General of the Norwegian School Board, Peter Fredriksson, who promises to present the information to the politicians so that the Sami schools will continue to be good and give the students what they are entitled to.
