Condemning reactions continued, internally and externally, after the martyrdom of 9 Palestinians, today, Thursday, at the hands of the occupation forces, after they stormed the city of Jenin and its camp.

Several cities in the West Bank also witnessed protest stops and marches to condemn the Israeli operation, and the occupation army announced raising the state of alert on the borders with the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the Palestinian presidency condemned the storming of the Jenin camp, describing what happened there as a "massacre," calling on the international community to protect the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry stated that it had mobilized all its embassies in the world to expose the crimes of the occupation, and to demand urgent international intervention to stop this aggression.

The Palestinian factions also threatened the Israeli army after the Jenin operation, and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that the occupation army "will not succeed in breaking the will of the Palestinian people."

Saleh Al-Arouri, deputy head of Hamas's political bureau, said that the occupation will pay the price for the massacre it carried out in Jenin and its camp, and that the resistance's response will not be delayed.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad movement announced that the resistance is ready and prepared for the next confrontation, if the aggression against the Palestinian people continues.

As for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, it said that the crimes of the occupation will not go unpunished, calling on the resistance forces to strike the Israeli army positions.

external responses

The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wiensland, expressed his "disturbation and concern" at the continuing "spiral of violence" in the occupied West Bank.

"I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the continuing cycle of violence in the occupied West Bank," he said in a written statement. "The killing of 9 Palestinians today, including gunmen and a woman, during an Israeli arrest operation in Jenin, is another stark example."

"Since the beginning of this year, we have continued to witness the high levels of violence and other negative trends that have characterized 2022. It is critical to immediately reduce tensions and prevent further loss of life," he added.

The State of Qatar also condemned in the strongest terms the "barbaric Israeli aggression against the Jenin camp" and considered it "an extension of the heinous and horrific crimes of the occupation against the defenseless Palestinian people."

The Qatari Foreign Ministry confirmed - in a press statement - that "the Israeli occupation has become more reassured than ever before of lack of accountability and impunity, which encouraged it to commit more crimes and violations against the brotherly Palestinian people, killing civilians, including children, women and the elderly, and desecrating hospitals." and vital civilian facilities.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry also warned of the consequences of the Israeli escalation, which heralds a cycle of violence for which everyone will pay the price, according to the ministry's statement.

For its part, Egypt called for an immediate halt to such "Israeli" attacks on Palestinian cities.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry also expressed its "deep concern" about the escalating tension and the loss of life in the West Bank.

Stops and marches

On the other hand, several cities in the West Bank witnessed protest stops and marches, denouncing the killing of 9 Palestinians by the occupation army in the Jenin camp.

Participants in a stand organized in the city center of Nablus (in the northern West Bank) raised Palestinian flags and chanted, condemning the "crimes" of the occupation.

Similar marches and vigils were also organized in Tubas (North), Bethlehem and Hebron (South).

The general strike prevailed in all the cities of the West Bank, and witnesses reported that confrontations broke out between dozens of Palestinians and the occupation forces in separate locations.

The Palestinian Health Ministry had announced earlier today the death of 9 Palestinians - including an elderly woman - and the injury of others by the bullets of the occupation forces, after they stormed the city of Jenin and its camp.

The director of Jenin Governmental Hospital told Al-Jazeera that the situation in the camp is very bad, and that if it continues as it is, there will be a disaster.

The occupation army radio quoted a security source as saying that the aim of the operation in Jenin was to arrest what it described as a "most wanted" member of the Islamic Jihad movement.

Funeral and flags at half-mast

The Jenin Brigade, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and Al-Qassam Brigades stated that their fighters had engaged in clashes with the occupation forces in the camp.

Private sources also reported to Al-Jazeera that the Islamic Jihad movement had told mediators that if the aggression against Jenin did not stop, the situation would be possible for all possibilities.

For his part, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced 3 days of mourning and flags at half-mast for the souls of the martyrs who fell in Jenin.

The Palestinian leadership started an emergency meeting in Ramallah to study the situation and how to deal with it.

The residents of Jenin camp mourned those killed by the occupation bullets, and the people launched angry marches from Jenin Hospital to the camp cemetery, chanting slogans condemning the Israeli massacre.
