Putin: Most of the Jewish victims of the Holocaust were citizens of the Soviet Union

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that most of the Jews killed in the Holocaust were citizens of the Soviet Union, and stressed that Nazi crimes have no statute of limitations.

According to the "Vesti" website, Putin's remarks came during his reception, Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar, and President of the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC) Alexander Boruda, in the presidential office in the Kremlin, on Thursday.

Putin emphasized that the tragedy of the Holocaust is a common pain.

That is why the Russian investigative authorities continue to uncover the crimes of the Nazis committed against all citizens of the USSR.

And on the eve of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust, which is celebrated in memory of the liberation of Auschwitz by Soviet troops, new information was announced about the atrocities committed by the Nazis and Polish collaborators in this death camp.

And the head of the Russian state emphasizes that "the majority were just citizens of the Soviet Union, and this is our common pain. We are pursuing such a policy so that nothing like this will happen again in the history of mankind."
