Politico: Western countries began discussing possible deliveries of fighter jets to Ukraine

According to Politico, citing Western military officials and diplomats, discussions initiated by the Ukrainian side about the supply of jet fighters to Kyiv are already underway.

) of fighters,” said a diplomat from a northern European country.

At the same time, the publication notes that the discussion will be even more tense than the discussion of the supply of tanks earlier.

Several officials from Europe said that the authorities in their countries consider this idea a failure, and the risks of escalation remain high.

“Fighters today are completely unthinkable, but we can discuss this in two to three weeks,” one official said.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that in addition to tanks, Kyiv also needs to receive long-range missiles and combat aircraft from the West.

At the same time, the Russian side, commenting on Berlin's decision to supply tanks, stressed that this is an extremely dangerous step that takes the conflict in Ukraine to a new level of confrontation.
