Xinhua News Agency, Ramallah, January 26 (Reporter Liu Weijian) Palestine announced on the 26th that it would stop security coordination with Israel in response to the Israeli army killing nine Palestinians in the West Bank earlier in the day.

  Abu Rudina, spokesman for the Palestinian Presidential Office, said in a statement on the same day that in view of Israel's continuous violations of the Palestinian people and the violation of the agreement signed by the two sides, Palestine has decided to stop security coordination with Israel.

The Palestinian leadership will immediately engage the UN Security Council to demand that Israel stop taking unilateral measures against the Palestinians.

  The statement also called on all political factions in Palestine to hold a meeting to agree on a "comprehensive and unified" national vision to counter Israel's "aggression."

  Earlier in the day, Israeli forces clashed with Palestinians in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, killing nine Palestinians.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced an emergency meeting to discuss countermeasures, and ordered flags to be lowered at half-mast for three days of mourning throughout Palestine.

  Tensions in the Palestinian-Israeli region have intensified recently.

The Israeli army launched search and arrest operations in various areas of the West Bank, clashing with local Palestinians and causing casualties.
