According to RIA Novosti, he told reporters about this following a visit to Eritrea.

Lavrov noted that American and European delegations regularly appear in Africa, demanding that African countries not cooperate with Russia.

“Do not get out of the general discipline, by which they, the West, understand the restoration of colonial dependence, by and large, but in a new form,” the Russian minister said.

He also added that Africa has been exploited for many centuries, and the West still wants to maintain an exploitative policy towards the continent.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed Russia's commitment to food exports to Africa.

It was also reported that the German Foreign Ministry apologized to the African Union for the statement about Lavrov.
