Izvestia writes about it.

The article says that in Russia, the Irkutsk region has become the center of home shadow mining.

In the first half of 2022 alone, special equipment for cryptocurrency mining was found on 23 fires in the region, media reported.

It is noted that in energy-deficient regions (these include, for example, Moscow and the Moscow region, Kuban and Adygea) they also propose to ban this activity, and the subjects of Russia intend to empower additional taxation on the extraction of cryptocurrencies.

In November last year, a group of deputies from different factions, headed by Anatoly Aksakov, chairman of the Duma committee on the financial market, introduced a bill to the State Duma introducing the regulation of mining activities.

According to the draft initiative, the requirements for the activities of citizens involved in the mining of digital currency will be established by the Russian government in agreement with the Central Bank.

With regard to control over compliance with the requirements, it will be carried out by the federal executive body authorized by the Russian government.
